Adventurous And Spiritual Quest On Machu Picchu & Galapagos Tours

By Cody Gardella

Machu Picchu is perhaps the most important and well preserved archaeological site left by the Inca tribe. There are different methods of visiting. One can do one of many Inca trail hikes or visit from Cuzco, Galapagos or Lima. The best Machu Picchu tours will include plenty of time for tourists to spend at the site when there are no crowds there and solitary viewing can be done.

The masonry of the Inca tribe is on display at this site. The stones are so close to one another that a credit card can't fit between them. It's aesthetically inspiring but its most impressive feature is how well it has survived earthquakes over the centuries. The area is constructed directly on top of two fault lines and it's said that the buildings move with the tremors and return to their original places afterwards.

Engineers theorize that the bulk of the ruin is under the earth. It has drainage systems and deep foundations said to have been made from crushed rock. The area can be relatively expensive for those going only for a single day. However, taking a 90 minute hike along the Hiram Binghams 1911 route gives one an excellent view of it at no charge.

Tour packages often organize for guests to stay at a lodge overnight after reaching the area so that they have a chance to return there the next day for a more solitary viewing. A tour package that includes the ruin will also bring the cost down significantly. There are no informative signs at the site but there is a museum few know about close by. It can be reached by traveling half an hour from Aguas Calientes.

Galapagos introduces an entirely different kind of fascination. This group of islands close to Ecuador has varying habitats for the wildlife and plants in the area. They each have their own ecological and geographical significance as well as histories.

The shores of many of the islands are heavily populated with marine Iguanas. When Darwin visited them, he named them 'imps of darkness' because he found them so ugly. They're the only oceanic lizards in the world and this fact helped Darwin develop his theory of evolution. He theorized that the lizards had adapted to their oceanic environment, which was an important beginning for this later writings.

It's often best to view the area on cruise ships due to the high number of islands. Naturalists are often provided to tell visitors about the wildlife in each ecosystem. The cluster is geologically young and forms one of the most active volcanic areas around the globe. Fifty eruptions have shaken them over the last two hundred years. They have left some interesting consequences for tourists to see.

The volcanic activity has left some landscapes quite desolate. There is only one island, however, that's notably absent of fauna. The other animals have adapted in fascinating ways to the harsh conditions. Some marine areas around Galapagos are known as among the best diving sites globally. The best Machu Picchu tours will give guests a luxurious way to spend time in this interesting and gorgeous area.
