When it comes to holidays abroad, it's often easy to spot Brits on a bargain beach holiday. However, there are plenty of ways to avoid standing out amongst the locals. Here's a list of ideas so you can and break the stereotype on your stint in the Spanish sun.
We have a bad reputation on holiday for hitting the alcohol hard, and loving the lager as much as we do our tea. Avoid this clich by sticking to the sangria, wine and spirits. Or at the very least pour your beer into a glass. Taking it slow and steady never hurt anyone. Spain doesn't have the same licensing hours as Blighty, so there's no rush to put as much away as possible before closing time.
When it comes to alcohol, us Brits have quite the reputation for overdoing it and especially on the pints which are even more fattening than other forms of alcohol. If you're going to drink during the day, be sure to do it responsibly, and try not to cause a commotion. Opt for drinks like wine and sangria, and be sure to throw lots of ice in your drink to ensure you don't get dehydrated. It'll also help you last longer so you can make the most of your time in Spain.
We all love a bit of football but if you have to bring your strip along with you to Spain, perhaps just save it for the daytime. Pack a polo or a v-neck tee for the clubs. Not only will you look the part, but your chances of pulling on a night out will probably increase too -- trust on this one, the ladies will thank you!
Remember that there is more to do on holiday than drink too. Although Costa Blanca have plenty of beaches and bars, there's also plenty of opportunity to check out museums in the neighbouring destinations such as Alicante and Javea which boast museums and national parks. It's a great excuse to break away from the partying on your trip away.
