The West Coast of New Zealand: A Fun Filled Destination for Vacationers

New Zealand's West Coast region is a perfect location for anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxing or activity filled vacation. If you are unfamiliar with this particular location, New Zealand is only about 900 miles east of Australia.It is just one of the Pacific islands that are located in the Oceania region.The country is made up of two islands called the North Island and the South Island.The West Coast region, which makes up one of the 16 regions of New Zealand, is located on South Island.The country is crawling with rugged mountains and coastline that is an amazing area for vacations.

The Western Coast has 140 glaciers, but the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers are two of the most popular.The glaciers can be viewed in various ways.You can either take a guided walking tour to see them, a helicopter ride or even trek to climb portions of them.You have so many options to select.Either way, you are ensured to embark upon an adventure that you will never forget.Tourist claim that Fox Glacier is not as busy as Franz Josef.However, both are known to be very entertaining once you get there.

The West coast region is so beautiful that it does not take much to really enjoy the area.There is nothing that says you have to take helicopter rides, trek through the rain forests or ride mountain bikes while on vacation.But then again, this is how the adrenaline junkies choose to explore the country.

But, if you want a vacation that is a little less adventurous, then opt for one of the many track walks that the region has to offer.They can last from ten minutes to five days.Check the Department of Conservation for a listing of available walking tours.Not only will you find out how long the walks are, but there is even information that tells you the difficulty level for each walk.You might need this info if there are small kids or older people in your travelling group.

If walking tracks are not adventurous enough for you, don't worry because the regions has plenty of exciting activities that you will love.You can easiy book tours for rock climbing, cave rafting or other activities that will get your blood pumping.Paparoa National Park has beautiful caves, forests, cliffs, coastline and canyons that are ideal for action packed activities.

With all of these beautiful charms, the Western Coast of South Island is bound to have excellent hotel or motel accommodations as well.Basically, there are tons of good accommodations for all types of travellers that range from campgrounds all the way to fancy hotels.So if you choose to visit events such as the hokitika motels Wild Food Festival, you will not have to look high and low for good hokitika accommodation choices. There are many comfortable Hokitika motels and hotels that will suit your fancy. It doesn't matter which you choose because your accommodations will always be reasonable and satisfying.

All in all, there are so many things to see and do in the western coastal region of New Zealand's South Island.The area has a different geography that makes it ideal for vacationers who want to experience something a little different.
