Festivals In France

By Adrian Fletcher

Sure, France is home to delicious food and fine wine. Not to mention the renowned landmarks. If you schedule your vacation right, you might just be in the country in time for some of the best festivals in France. So do try to make it in time for all of the fun and festivities.

Cannes Film Festival

If you are looking to get star struck, then head on down to Cannes, South of France, in the merry month of May for the Cannes Film Festival. You will get a chance to see some great films, maybe some that will even be selected for the Palm' d'Or. But what truly brings the crowd in is that aside from the films, you might be able to get a glimpse of your favorite actor for real. Celebrities, actors, actresses, models, and all those other individuals who live on the lap of luxury come to celebrate too. Just be certain to book in advance.

Festival d'Avignon

Avignon in July is quite a treat. In France, this festival is by far one of the most renowned- maybe due to the fact it is also one of the oldest. With twenty separate venues that celebrate it, you are sure to get your fill of art, music, dance, and cinema. And yet, the highlight is always in the Palais des Papes.

Nice Carnival

Another fine time to be in the country is in the month of February. So make your way to the south east coast for the Nice Carnival. Imagine- floats, puppets, parades, and great french food. Not forgetting all of the dancing, music, and fireworks too. Just be sure that you have made reservations in advance. You will need a spot to get a good nights rest after all.

However, there are plenty of other festivals celebrated spanning the country through the year. You have the Grenoble Jazz festival in March, the Versailles Festival in May, Tour de France that runs from the end of June to the beginning of July, and the Fte d'Automne in September to name a few. You definitely should not forget about Christmas, New Year, along with all the other major holidays.
